Michael G. Deutschmann of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on October 21, 2026, at the age of 73.
Born in St. Louis to the late Clarence J. and Nora (nee McCarthy) Deutschmann, Michael was one of fourteen children in a close-knit, lively family. He is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife of 39 years, Patricia V. (nee Kenefick) Deutschmann, who preceded him in death in 2023.
Michael was the devoted father of Andrew (CeCe) Deutschmann and Sandra LaChance; cherished grandfather of Andrea, Nicholas, Monica, Matthew, Drew, and Henry; proud great-grandfather of Paisley, Khloe, Bonnie, Zayne, and Kazi; dear brother of Catherine (the late James) Laughlin, Richard (Barbara) Deutschmann, Marilyn (Richard) Hogan, Joan (Bruce) Zbaren, Gregory (Stephanie) Deutschmann, Susan (Matthew) Wickenhauser and the late George (Kathryn) Deutschmann, Robert (Joan) Deutschmann, William Deutschmann, Mary Ellen (survived by Michael) Cobb, John (survived by Mary Pat) Deutschmann, Rita Adler and Thomas (survived by Connie) Deutschmann; loved uncle, great-uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and wonderful friend to many.
A talented master carpenter by trade, Michael had a lifelong passion for working with his hands. He was a builder and a fixer of things, always quick to put his skills and work ethic to use in the service of others. He was a consummate wisecracker who never wasted an opening to land a quality one-liner or blend his second language, sarcasm, into any conversation. Outside of work, he was most in his element outdoors. He loved sharing the peace of his farm with family and friends, where he could often be found hunting and fishing, proudly riding his tractor, or just sitting quietly in his favorite seat at the table by the back window, gazing at the landscape.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Kutis Funeral Home Affton (10151 Gravois Road). A memorial service will immediately follow at 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to de Greeff Hospice House and Mercy South Hospice.
