  1. Mr Doerr was an awesome guy. Though I only knew him way back when I was in high school and his son Brian was my classmate, the times we interacted were always good. He was the quintessential gentleman; nice guy, great dad, perfect manners. He came to my home when I was a mechanically inept 17 year old kid over my head when it came to fixing a faulty dryer and fixed it, much to my Mom’s happiness. Rest in peace Mr Doerr. God has a great one by his side.

I will always remember Al with a big grin on his face and he always looks like he is up to “Mischief”Jean probably knows he usually was….
I will remember babysitting for the boys and then Al would take me to church the next day He didn’t always realize that he had the wrong time but I never minded He then would take me ice skating at Forest Park. Back then it was so cold that the small ponds would freeze and they had fires going to keep you warm
Al was a good father to his children and I know he must have treasured his grandchildren
Jean was always there to keep Al in line You are the best Aunt and Uncle I will miss Al I am so happy that that Jean is very strong
Rest in Peace Al You deserve some comfort now

Alzheimer”s is a very cruel disease and you all have had front row seats for way too long. Uncle Al was one of the best, he always was laughing, joking & welcoming all of us Boyds with open arms. Aunt Jean you are truly one of the strongest people I have ever met, I am so Sorry for your loss. Uncle Al is now free & flying with the Angels.
Peace be with you All, know that the Boyds hearts & thoughts are with you.

  4. Dear Jean, Dennis, Brian, Darryl, Sherrie, and Rick,
This is very sad news for me, even though I know Al had been suffering toward the end. He always had such a big, joyful spirit and a deep love for life. Al was devoted to his family and to everyone around him, working hard to support those he loved, while also finding joy in his garden, his many hobbies, and even sports—like ice skating in Forest Park well into his seventies.
One of my fondest memories is how he would always walk you out to the car after gatherings, lingering to reminisce and share a few more stories. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word—kind, thoughtful, and unfailingly positive.
You were all very lucky to have had him for so many wonderful years. His warmth and spirit will be deeply missed.

I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting your father, but I can attest to his character by yours. I’m unable to attend the services as I’m home with bronchitis. Prayers

  10. My brother Al was the best brother anyone could have. We lived on a farm growing up and have wonderful memories of that. After he married Jean the memories got even better. The memories are what will keep me going. God bless Jean and all my nephews and nieces. I will miss him terribly
