Donaldson, 80, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on March 17, 2026.
A man of deep faith and integrity, Neal devoted his life to service—both to his family and his community.
Neal deeply cherished his family and was loved dearly by those closest to him, especially his wife of 56 years, Sheryl. He was not only an exceptional man, but also a devoted husband, a loving father, and an amazing grandfather.
He was a longtime member of Calvary Presbyterian Church until its closing and a current member of Faith Des Peres Presbyterian Church, and he was actively engaged with the presbytery.
Neal served as a civilian aerospace engineer with the U.S. Army. He was also a proud member of the Masonic Order, Algabil Freedom Masonic Lodge #636, for more than 50 years.
Those who knew Neal will remember his quick wit, steady character, thoughtful wisdom, and unwavering commitment to family, faith, community, and country.
Neal was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Donaldson and Eleanor Fowler Donaldson.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sheryl Renick Donaldson; his children, Gregory (Ginger) Donaldson of Auburn, AL; Lucas (Marilyn) Donaldson of St. Louis, MO; and Matthew Donaldson of St. Louis, MO; as well as his grandchildren, Caleb (Kat) Donaldson of Lombard, IL; Katherine (Michael) Donaldson of Savannah, GA; Audrey Donaldson of Auburn, AL; Harlan (Katie) Donaldson of St. Louis, MO; and Lillian Donaldson of St. Louis, MO.
A service in celebration of Neal’s life will be held at Faith Des Peres Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The BackStoppers, Inc. or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
