Loving wife of the late Andrew M. Doyle II died peacefully after a short illness. She is survived by her loving children Kathe (Edgar) Rasch, Andy (Elizabeth), Jim (Diane), and Ed (Tina Migliazzo) Doyle, her grandchildren David (Libby Bucholz) Rasch, Martha (Brad) Scharf, Elizabeth Doyle, Casey Doyle, Ally (Edward) Koch, and 7 great-grandchildren. Sister of the late Mary Esther Greber and late brother Edward Carlin.
Helen was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, daughter of Esther Sterling and Edward Carlin in 1927. Her mom died two years later caring for her children when they had rheumatic fever. Relatives helped raise her and she completed a BSN at Duquesne University, specializing in pediatric medicine. After marrying in 1952, she came to St. Louis in 1957 as her husband came to the faculty of St. Louis University. Here she raised four children and supported countless children as a nurse at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. She supported her children in their school years and later, as a nurse, countless other children at Cardinal Glennon Hospital.
Helen was an RN, BSN and retired as night supervisor from Cardinal Glennon Hospital. She was a dedicated parishioner and choir member at St. Rafael Church. Her faith was strong and guided her life of kindness and volunteerism, including years of work with her beloved dogs for APA. Helen was always willing to lend a helping hand and give of herself wherever she could.
In her last years, she found faith at St. Agnes Home in her everyday devotion to God.
Visitation at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church 6000 Jamieson Ave. 63109 on Tuesday, June 23 from 10:00 am. until Funeral Mass time at 11:00 am. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Catholic Charities of St. Louis or Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital will be most appreciated.
My deepest sympathy ❤
Helen and my Mom formed a close friendship that lasted through the years and across many miles. She was my Godmother and I loved her dearly. Over the years we spoke on the phone often and visited when possible, and she always spoke so highly of her love for her family. May she rest in peace with her beloved Andy. Sending thoughts and prayers to her family.
Marcy, you were the light in her life. She cared so much for you and your mom.
To Kathe and family: This picture captures your Mom’s love for four legged fur babies, which she passed down to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She’s at rest now but with a leash in her hand ready to walk a pup.
Aunt Helen was always a very kind & loving person. She will be deeply missed. Prayers upon everyone affected by her passing. She is in heaven now. God bless her. If you all need anything, we are here. From her extended family in Texas.
Our condolences to the family which we consider them very good friends and know them for very long time .
We get together all the time and we met Helen couple times in better time .
Kathe,

Helen was my buddy and we met at St. Raphael praying, choir and many other ministries. She met our dog Alex and Diane and immediately I had another mother. I loved her dearly and our last visit at the home we prayed the rosary together. I told Diane she was on a rocket to heaven after learning of her death. Rest in Peace Helen.
I met Helen (right after Andy’s passing) at St Raphael’s where she was involved in so many parish activities. Her beautiful smile and very caring attitude is what I will remember about her. My mom was lucky enough to met her as well when they both were residents at Our Lady of Life apartments. What a small world! In reading all she accomplished in life, I can only hope I’m as blessed as her. Prayers for the family as losing a loved one is never easy. The memories of her will live on forever.
