Vernon Robert Dressel, a.k.a. Vern, Butch, Burn’in Vernon, 85 of St. Louis, MO continued on his Journey by passing from this earth on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at home and surrounded by the love of his family.
Vern was born and raised in the Dutchtown neighborhood on the Southside of St. Louis, MO on August 15, 1939. He attended St. Mary’s High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve. Vern first met his childhood sweetheart to-be and loving wife Loretta (nee Dieckmann) Dressel when she was in kindergarten and he was in the 2nd grade. They married in 1958 and remained married for 67 years until his passing.
Vern often declared his greatest blessing and gratitude for his family.

And beloved Uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Vern will forever be remembered for his love of fishing and cheering on his family’s sports teams as well as his favorite St. Louis teams. He enjoyed a summer vegetable garden (especially tomatoes!) and the love of his dogs, Sadie, Kia & Jake. He really enjoyed hearing and telling a good joke for a hearty laugh (after the kids were cleared from the room for the more colorful ones)!
Vern was a man of principle and put great value on integrity, honor, honesty, hard work, commitment to his family and in doing the right thing. Godspeed to our leading man. Rest in Peace. We love you.
SERVICES: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL (10151 Gravois Rd., 63123) on Wednesday, April 30th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral on Thursday, May 1st at 11:00 AM, followed by military honors.

We only met once, but both Joe and Judy are special friends for several years. I am sure they and the rest of the family will miss you, but are better people because you were here.

Dear Daddy,
You’re number 4 will always remember your smile that brought your sound of laughter. Your miraculous birth gave you 67 years from your childhood with your virgin bride -. who gave you all of your children -grand, great and great great. There is only one Vern, Butch – Burnin Vernon who was my faithful responsible special daddy. Vernon Robert Dressel has now entered the Eternal Peace that Robert Vernon Dressel will someday see you again – when our eternal life’s are reunited! Daddy rest in peace because we will be again in our natural mirror with our wanna be Walter Matthau nosey noses that will and forever continue to give us the best common and respectful sense.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss of Butch. I hope you all, especially Butch’s children and you, Loretta, know that I would never have missed Wednesday night if I were in any shape to have been there. I am so, so sorry to have missed all of you but I send all my love to all of you and hope to see everyone soon.
