Robert Joseph Driskill, fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026 at the age of 73. He touched and inspired countless lives, leaving behind a rich legacy of faith, love, service and laughter. To know him was to know a truly exceptional man—a reflection of true kindness and grace who brought a natural comfort to everyone in his presence. He possessed a profound warmth that left an indelible mark on everyone he met, and he dedicated himself to offering constant encouragement and genuine care to those around him.
As a devout Roman Catholic, Robert placed his faith at the very center of his life. In his youth, he briefly lived as a Franciscan monk, reflecting a deep calling to service that remained with him always. He held a special devotion to Mary, the Mother of God, as well as St. Francis of Assisi, St. Dymphna, and Padre Pio. Ultimately, his beliefs were not just spoken; they were lived out daily in the quiet grace he extended to everyone.
Robert was a wonderful, dedicated teacher whose impact extended far beyond the classroom. Long after his retirement, he remained deeply loved by former students. This lasting love was a reflection of his true character: a teacher who genuinely cared for his students and always wanted the very best for them.
Those who knew Robert will always remember his wonderful sense of humor. He always made people smile and never took himself too seriously. He loved declaring himself the ‘favorite uncle’ to his nieces and nephews—whether they agreed or not. His playful confidence and infectious personality made him a joy to be around, and his family will forever treasure the laughter he brought into their lives.
Born in St. Louis on March 15, 1953, Robert was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was the cherished son of Richard and Norma Driskill, and one of six children. Preceded in death by his brother, Jack, he is survived by his siblings Cathy (the late Bill Czech), Nancy (Rich Lutz), Jim, and Susan (Jim Wildeisen), who will carry a lifetime of love for their brother.
He was the dedicated father of Matt and a loving father-in-law to Kristen. Matt is deeply grateful for the lessons his father taught through word and example, showing him the true meaning of faith, kindness, and service. Robert proved that a man could be strong without being harsh, teaching that quiet grace is a profound strength rather than a weakness. Kristen holds her own deep gratitude for Robert, who welcomed her into the family with open arms and loved her as his own daughter.
His absolute greatest joy, however, was being a grandfather to Luke and Grace. Robert loved them fiercely and made it a priority to attend every game, event, and important milestone in their lives. His support was constant, his pride was deep, and the unmistakable love and memories he shared with Luke and Grace will remain a precious part of their hearts forever.
Robert lived his life giving freely to others, making everyone feel safe, valued, and loved. The constant strength of his faith and his gentle spirit left the world a brighter place, and his unwavering devotion to his family will remain with us always. While Robert will be profoundly missed, his family finds great comfort in honoring the purposeful, loving life he led. We rejoice in the faith that he has been welcomed into the presence of the Lord he served so faithfully, embraced by the Blessed Mother to whom he was so devoted, and joyfully reunited with loved ones who went before him.
His life was a gift.
His kindness was a blessing.
His laughter will echo.
And his love will remain.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
