In Loving Memory

Drysdale, Ruthann Marie

RUTHANN MARIE DRYSDALE

FOREVER TOGETHER IN OUR HEARTS

MARCH 7, 1942 – MARCH 23, 2021

Miss Budweiser exchanged her crown for a halo with her husband of 57 years, Mel, by her side and surrounded by the love of her children and grandchildren.

The third of Lawrence and Ida Wiese’s thirteen children, all educated in St. Louis Catholic grade schools and high schools, Ruthie shined at St. Agatha Grade School and St. John’s High School, excelling academically and athletically, growing unshakeable in her faith and friendships, and being crowned Queen of the Prom in 1960.  The next year, at the beginning of a promising career with Anheuser-Busch, Ruthie was crowned Miss Budweiser 1961 with a diamond studded tiara before 6,000 attendees at the old Kiel Auditorium.  Both of these crowning achievements spoke to the radiance of Ruthie’s inner beauty, as well as her physical beauty.

Ruthie knew the most important part of life is knowing what is important.  An award-winning artist, Ruthie’s “Keep Christ in Christmas” poster art hung in homes and shop windows throughout St. Louis.  Yet, Ruthie eschewed art as a career to instead devote herself to life’s most important work – happily and selflessly doing all that needs to be done to keep family together. A family that now numbers more than 100 with the children and grandchildren of her 8 brothers and 4 sisters gathered together with the 18 arisen from the love of Ruthie and Mel.

Among Ruthie’s beloved, big family are husband Mel, son Dan and his wife Sandy and their children Matt, Nick, & Emily, son Doug and his wife Heidi and their son Jake, son Dave and his wife Pam and their children Kaylie and Colin, and daughter Melanie and her husband Ed and their children Liam and Alena, and Ruthie’s brothers Larry, Mark, Greg, Paul, Tom, Ted, Steve and Glen, and sisters Mariellen, Jeanie, Kathie, and Chris.

Truly a special person, naturally Ruthie was given a special heart by God.  A heart strong enough to carry all of us inside.  A heart that always beat first for us, then for herself.  We are Forever together in Ruthie’s special Heart and Ruthie lives Forever in our Hearts.

A  joy-filled Mass will be held at St. Agatha Catholic Church and Celebration of Ruthie’s life held at a later date.

Only Love and Prayers are requested although, instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ruthie’s friends the cloistered contemplative Poor Clare Nuns of St. Louis, Monastery of St. Clare, 200 Marycrest Drive, St. Louis, MO 63129 (poorclaresstl.org). KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY SERVICE
