Dan is a good friend from Epiphany of Our Lord grade school in south St. Louis. The entire Emerson family was well known throughout the neighborhood and were good caring people. I will miss Dan and his sense of humor. RIP dear friend.
I was so fortunate to have worked with Dan at the then Savvis Center. He was a wonderful person. He would take us young staff out for lunch to some of his favorite places around the city. They were always these little unique places and when we walked in everyone in the place knew Dan. I carry these treasured memories with me always.
When I worked in his restaurant in Murphy (Flats) he would take us out for a late diner/early breakfast.
Dan’s smile was contagious, his presence was comforting, and his personality was uplifting. Dan was a great, loving friend of our family, my father’s best buddy and right-hand man. He has had beautiful impact on our family and so many in this world. Our heartfelt condolences to all his the family.
Dan was one of a kind…the very BEST kind, that is. He was always available to chat with you about a myriad of topics but food & restaurants were at the top of the list.
I often thought of him as “The Mayor of Southview.”
Dan is very much missed by all of the staff & residents. We will remember him as a kind & generous man.
We would like to convey our deepest condolences to her family and friends. Dan will always be remembered as a friend to all. RIP Dan, soar high with the angels.
My Sincere Condolences to Emerson family. Lord can put his heart and soul in Heaven to rest in peace.
Sincerely,
To Dan’s family and on behalf of the family of the late Anthony & Eileen (nee Forkan) Slay please accept our most heartfelt sympathy and know that we too share in your sorrow and grieve for your loss.
Dan was as much a part of our family as we were, probably because he’s been with us for just about as long as most of us. This makes his passing that much more painful.
It’s hard to imagine life without Dan anymore. He’s always been here, or there or everywhere with his charm, wit and comedic personality, but I guess . . .
Prayers and condolences to the Emerson family. From our time together in the army to Danny’s in Murphy flats Dan was a great friend and a great guy. With his infectious smile and hilarious stories he never met a stranger. While I hadn’t seen Dan for several years, I thought of him often. RIP my friend.
I’m sending my condolences to Danny’s family especially to Marilyn & Mike. I worked for Danny at his restaurant. We had so much fun. He was a nice guy and a good boss. I will always have fond memories of him.
Ditto to all the above comments about Dan. He surely was all those things, but the thing he and Marilyn did best was raise a truly amazing, generous, loving, etc. family. He so loved and was so proud of all of them. God bless you all and may He turn the grief you experience now into great joy reliving memories. Thank you all for making this world a better place. He taught you well. 😘
Dan was an indomitable Spirit, larger than life itself. He was engaging, witty, intelligent, ever stoic and strong. Never complained and always looked on the bright side. Dan you will be so missed by so many. My heartfelt condolences go out to all of his family at this time. How lucky were we to have had such an incredible person like Dan touch our lives.
It won’t be the same entering the back entrance of the MAC without Dan to greet and talk with him.
RIP
My deepest sympathies to Marilyn and the Emerson family. We gather in spirit, Lord Jesus, put his heart and soul at peace and rest in heaven.
Thinking and praying for all the Emerson family, love you all!

Legendary for opening the first truly delicious Italian Restaurant in Jefferson County , Mo.
I worked for Dan & Marilyn Emerson in the late 70’s ,
They both were the kindest people to work for. Dan was always full of life, extremely funny , and sincerely genuine to all of the customers that frequented
Danny’s Restaurant.
Rest in Eternal Life Dan , you will be greatly missed.
Just heard about Dan’s passing today. Marilyn and family, please accept our deepest condolences on your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Emerson family.
Marilyn and family please accept our condolences on the loss of Danny. We didn’t find out about his passing until recently. We first met Danny at your restaurant in Murphy. I think it was the first restaurant we took our Dan Jr. to. The work was hard and the hours long but the food could not be any better. I always loved his lasagna, and have never eaten any better. anywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t cooking for Our Father in heaven. Love to you.
May The Creator continue watching over his family and friends. I am sure we will meet on the other.side.
I have just recently heard of Dan’s passing. Marilyn, I am so sorry. I am keeping all of you in my prayers. Dan and I went to grade school together at Epiphany of Our Lord. He was always nice and easy to talk to. I know he will be missed. Knowing the person that he was, I know that is at peace. I hope that his family find peace and comfort also.
Danny was my boss at my 1st job at Danny’s Restraunt. RIP
Dan was a true friend and company to everyone he touched. He is gone but never forgotten.
I will miss my friend.
