It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Mathew W. Farrell, who departed this life on June 24, 2025.
Matt was a devoted husband, loving father, and a cherished son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife Sarah, and their son Ethan. Of all the roles Matt held, none brought him more joy than being a father. His love for Ethan was evident in every moment they shared. He will be missed by his faithful dog Louie, who brought him great comfort.
Born to Patricia (Hayes) Farrell and Kevin Farrell (Linda) on December 31, 1979. Matt had a special relationship with both of his parents and shared a strong bond with his brother Chris Farrell (Becky). Matt grew up surrounded by a tight knit family and some of his closest friends are his cousins.
Matt is also survived by his in-laws, David and Pam Schuster, who embraced him as one of their own. He was also a beloved brother-in-law to Sam Schuster and wife Casey and Alex Schuster and his partner Jose. He held a special place in the hearts of his nephews, Isaiah and Oliver, and his nieces, Hazel and Peyton, each of whom brought him joy.
Matt’s legacy is one of unwavering work ethic and a deep commitment to his family. His absence leaves a hole that cannot be filled, but his memory will continue to live on in those who were lucky enough to know and love him.
Matt’s visitation will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 5:00-7:00. Kutis Funeral Home 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. St. Louis, MO 63129. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Needy Paws Rescue St. Louis.

Kevin, and all of Matt’s family…I am so very sorry for your loss. I know there are really no words that help at this time, but know my heart goes out to you, and I am sending love hugs and energy along with prayers! I’m so sorry I won’t be able to be there on the 2nd. But I will be thinking of you!
I think back to the times when I babysat you and your brother Chris. We used to have so much fun staying up way too late watching “The Three Stooges” reruns while snacking on cheese and crackers. Fun times!! For me, you will always be remembered for your kind heart and sincerity. You will be missed.

Matt was an integral part of my life from grade school to adulthood. He was such a great friend and had a work ethic I admired. He always was interested in what you had to say, asked about your family, and would buy you a beer! A St. Stephen’s School Picnic will never be the same without him!
Our hearts are with you, Sarah and Ethan. Matt was a great neighbor, husband, father, son, and friend. He did anything for anybody. We will miss him immensely.
