Favuzza, Joseph P. “Joey” entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his father and father’s partner, Joseph I. Favuzza and Sandra Lee Meyrose; mother, Patricia A. Klemme; paternal grandparents, Alberto and Palma Favuzza; uncle Vincent Favuzza (Scotty); maternal grandparents, Gus A. and Gertrude Prionas; and aunt, Olive Mae Bars.
Although Joey never married, he is survived by his brothers, Edward A. Favuzza (Melody) and Michael J. Favuzza (Diana); his aunt, Rosemary Vitale (Joseph); his stepmother, Luella Banham (Roland); dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.
At age 20, Joey enlisted in the US Navy and successfully completed bootcamp and MS “A” Schooling, becoming a sailor and Culinary Specialist aboard the USS Sacramento. He proudly served his country from March 1976 to February 1980.
Upon returning to St. Louis in his early fifties, he worked in the food and culinary business as a chef. After retiring he loved to cook trays of lasagna, large pots of spaghetti and sauce, ham and bean soup, chili, and baking loaves of bread and tons of cookies for his veteran friends’ monthly dinners at Freedom Hall where he resided his last 10 years of life.
A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, October 23rd at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 6603 Christopher Road, St. Louis, MO 63129. Visitation is at the church from 9:30 am to 10:00 am, Mass at 10:00 am, interment directly following mass at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
