Fortified with Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen Ann (McFarland) Feld, who left us on June 9, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed.
Kathy was born on October 3, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late John “Jack” and Nancy McFarland. In childhood, she moved around the St. Louis area and attended St. Roch for elementary school and Rosati-Kain High School, where she remained a devoted alumna. After high school she worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where she met her husband, Wally, after he was encouraged to talk to her at a mutual colleague’s wedding. Their love blossomed despite their height difference and they married on August 9, 1969.
Her next greatest joy was raising Kerry and Dan. She was the greatest and most supportive mom and was the biggest cheerleader at every soccer, baseball, basketball or racquetball game, dance or piano recital.
The next and ultimate joy were her grandchildren. Leo, Oliver and Lydia each brought new sparkle to her eye when they were born. Ben completed the grandchild superfecta when Kerry married Matt in 2020.
Along the way, her life was filled with the most devoted friend group one may be blessed to have. They have celebrated and supported each other for over five decades and Kathy was so very grateful for their love and friendship.
In retirement, Kathy liked to crochet, read, finish her crossword puzzles, watch tennis and professional cycling, root for the Cardinals, Blues, and her beloved St. Louis City SC, where her play-by-play commentary is legendary among Kerry’s friends.
While enduring a 17-year battle with Leukemia, Kathy fought with a remarkable combination of fierceness and grace. Her frightening hospital stays and subsequent quick recoveries would lead her to be labeled the “Comeback Kid” by her friends. Her continuous positive outlook on the future would cement her mother’s childhood nickname of “Little Miss Sunshine”. We are extremely grateful for the dedicated team at Siteman Cancer Center, especially Dr. Nancy Bartlett, for their zealous and compassionate care of Kathy over the years.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Walter, her children, Kerry Wofford (Matt) and Daniel Feld (Nicole), and her grandchildren, Leo, Oliver, Ben, and Lydia.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Kutis Funeral Home (Affton). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (Oakville), with burial at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) in her name.

I had the privilege of working with Kathy for 4 years. She was a constant source of joy and humor. She will be much missed by all who knew her.
