Robert J. Finger passed away unexpectedly on July 26, 2023 in his home of natural causes. He was born May 14, 1962 to Robert E. and Jean H. (Fecht) Finger. He is survived by his three loving sisters, Susan (Steve) Marchbanks, Patricia (Mark) Wiesner, and Sandra (David) Stepanovic as well as a nephew, 5 nieces, and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
Bob was a great swimmer in his youth and a proud member of the Carondelet YMCA swim team. He also swam for Southwest MO State University. He loved his family and dogs, and they loved him! He lived in many cities, wherever his Computer Programming jobs took him, with Pompano Beach, Florida being his favorite place to live.
A private Memorial Service will be held for his sisters and their families. There will be no other service. Memorials in his honor may be sent to the Marine Corps veterans or the Humane Society.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God”. Ephesians 2:8
This is terrible news!! My condolences to the Sandy, Pat and Sue and the entire “Finger Clan”.
My deepest condolences to the family. Bob and I used to swim with against each other starting when we were about 7 years old. Our fathers both worked at Union Electric, and I reconnected with him a few years ago and even chatted on the phone a few times. I helped Bob find a great person to honor some of his Dad’s marine possessions. We had talked about swimming in a meet together sometime soon. RIP Bobby, we’ll miss you.
I am so sorry for your loss! My prayers are with you as you grieve this huge loss!
Bob and I were on the Southwest Missouri State University team. He swam and I was a diver. Many of our teammates still communicate through a Group ME Social app and teammate Wally Flick shared the news. Bob was well liked by everyone and I remember he was positive and happy. He will be missed. Sorry for the family’s loss.
So very sorry to hear of Bob’s passing and my deepest condolences. Bob was a fellow swimmer at SMS but more importantly, a friend to those who swam with him there.
What sad news. Blessing to the Fingers and their Families. I am just taken aback by this.
Bob seemed to have that contagious smile on his face a lot. A fantastic swimmer and a very good teammate. I was blessed enough to be on the Y and MSU teams with Bob.
Take care and be well to all.
I know this is a very late reply… has been difficult. Thank you so much for your kind words everyone. We miss Bobby deeply and appreciate knowing he was loved
I was the assistant coach at MSU when Bob swam there. He always had a smile on his face. He looked like maybe he had been up to something even when he hadn’t. He came to one of the reunions a couple years ago it was so good to see him again. My condolences and prayers for his family and friends.
So sad to learn of this news. Bob’s family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. I was blessed to have met Bob in college at SMSU. He was always happy and friendly. I had many great times with Bob and consider myself fortunate to call him a friend. He will definitely be missed.
So sorry to hear this! Please accept our deepest sympathy.
We are very saddened of the passing of my long time childhood friend, great roommate, great swimmer and a great guy. I have known Bob for over 50 years and can’t believe he is gone. Just talked to him a couple months ago so I am happy I got to talk to him recently.
We had some great memories that will last a lifetime and I will always cherish the fun times we had together.
Pam and I will be praying for the Finger family
Our sincere condolences to the entire family, and especially to my old dear friends Steve and Sue as they cope with this loss.
Wow, hard to believe. Talked every once in awhile over the years. We were always going to get together to talk about old adventures. Rest in peace Bob. You’ll be missed. 🙏🙏🙏
