Foerster, Nikolaus

Nikolaus Foerster, age 93 passed away Friday, April 15, 2021.  Beloved husband to the late Lilli Foerster, father of Laura (Mark) Benckendorf and Christa (Nick) Marler, grandfather of Adam, Andrew, Abigail, Danielle and Joel and brother to Alois Foerster, the late Vera Konradi and the late Lilli Reiter and was a cherished friend.

Nik retired from Shriner’s Hospital after 45 years as an orthotist, caring for thousands of children in need of specialized pediatric orthopaedic services. He also worked for the School Sisters of Notre Dame for 39 years keeping their mother house running smoothly.

Born in Russia, lived in Germany, Nik came to the United States in 1955 with his bride (married 1950) and became a US Citizen in 1963. He loved his family, hunting, fishing, gardening, and his Amaretto.

Visitation at Kutis South County 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. on Friday, April 23, from 11 a.m. Service to follow in the chapel at 1 p.m. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.

  1. I started working at Shriners in 1973. I retired in 2019. I knew Nik. What a great guy! He was very helpful. Created anything we needed! Glad our paths crossed. What a helpful, gentle man! May he rest in peace.
