David Frey

In Loving Memory

Frey, David Michael

March 21, 1964 - December 18, 2024

David Michael Frey, 60, of Maryland Heights, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024. He was a devoted father, loving son, and a cherished friend who will be missed by many.

David was a dedicated and loving father to his sons, David and Sean. He spent his life looking after others, including his beloved mother, Mary Patricia Frey. He had an unwavering work ethic and could often be found driving his dump truck, where many of his friends knew him by the nickname “Gumby”. Though he was always hard at work, David was never too busy to lend a hand or offer support to those in need and would drop everything to help a friend.

Outside of his work, David had a deep love for the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid racing fan and enjoyed fishing and boating, often spending hours by the water. He loved the St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Cardinals and his Kansas City Chiefs. His afternoons were frequently spent in the yard working with his loyal dog, Yadi, who was his constant companion.

He is survived by his sons, David and Sean, his mother Mary Patricia (the late Donald) Frey, brother Donald (Peggy) Frey, sister Lori (Jim) Willard, cousin Christine (Jay) Johnson, and his girlfriend Michelle McDonald. He will be joining his father, Donald Frey, and Aunt Rebecca “Becky” Johnson in heaven. David’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

SERVICES:  Memorial visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel (10151 Gravois Road Affton, Missouri 63123) on Saturday, January 4, 2025, 1 – 3 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.

  1. Things won’t be the same. He was the best neighbor I have ever had. My heart has been sad since his diagnosis. My condolences to the family. He was a good one and looked after me, as a single momma and my 2 little ones loved him. RIP friend.

  3. Peace be with you all. Thank you for the loving care provided by his sons and close family friend. While living in STL I had a lot of fun times and laughs with Dave. He loved his kids, his dog and being outside. He really did enjoy the simple things. Whether it was KSHE classic rock, a fire pit with friends or just mowing the lawn Dave was happy to be there. Godspeed friend I hope they have fast boats and big trucks where you are headed.
