Funke, Dorothy Lea “Dot”

Resting in God’s Loving Embrace as of February 24, 2022. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Edward P. and Nora Kania (nee  Helms), her beloved husband Bernard (Ben) Funke, her daughter Joyce Wells and great-grandson Brian (Tony) DeGeare. She is survived by her children Ron (Debbie) DeGeare, Barbara (Jerry) Kisner, Sharon (Jerry) Frank, Judi (Ed) Moore and Kevin (Sue) Funke. Dorothy has 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and over a dozen great-great-grandchildren, along with many generations of nieces and nephews.

Dorothy worked for many years at White-Rodgers. After retiring, she was still energetic and became a part-time nanny for several years and worked at Dierbergs until her late 80s. Dorothy loved to garden, travel and have new experiences, however, her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and play with the little ones.

Services: Funeral at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois, on Friday, March 4 at 10 a.m. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Salvation Army or Keep Memory Alive. Visitation Thursday 3-9 p.m.

  1. Dorothy was very much loved and is missed terribly. My deepest condolences to her vast family and friends! I’m so thankful for the memories I have of her, I will cherish them forever! There wasn’t a day that went by that she didn’t bring a smile and make me laugh. She had quick comebacks and sharp observations, even at her advanced age. She was truly admired by so many.
