At peace with God on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024.
It is with a heavy heart the family of Kathy Futhey announce her passing on July 2nd, 2024 at the age of 52. Kathy was the precious and devoted mother of Natalie (Phillip) Smith; adoring grandmother of Naomi Parker and Nina Smith; beloved daughter of Pat Futhey (nee Quinlan) and the late Dale Futhey; loving sister of Michael (Chris) Futhey, Daniel (Cyndy) Futhey, Joseph Futhey, Therese Futhey, Amy (the late Ric) Bischoff, Megan (Chris) Issitt, Timothy Futhey, James Futhey, and the late Kevin Futhey, Matthew Futhey, and Elizabeth (surviving Phil) Hall; a dear aunt, cousin, Godmother, and friend.
Kathy was an alum of Bishop DuBourg High School, and Webster Groves High School where she graduated in 1990. In school she found a love for poetry, and art; though she often did not share her work, it was beautiful. She was a traveler, happy to go to any and every destination she could and brave enough to face her fears in order to get there. Kathy had a talent for giving the most perfect gifts in every situation whether they be making her brother a Lord so he could flaunt it to all, or giving her granddaughter a special backpack that she refuses to put down; her gifts were so full of love and thoughtfulness. She was a cheerleader, not in the literal sense, but in the way that you could tell her any piece of news that you felt was exciting and she became your biggest fan, your biggest supporter. Kathy showed that the little things make a big difference; A cup of coffee made a walk around the mall bearable; a purple fluffy topped pen made the workday happier; the little things in your kitchen that you didn’t think could go together, actually make the perfect meal.
She loved her family so much, and made them her world. Because of this the people her family loved, quickly came under her wing and became the people she loved as well. She was always a phone call away ready to give what people need most, a listening ear. She will be missed by all who were blessed enough to feel the love she gave.
SERVICES: Visitation will be held at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL (10151 Gravois Rd 63123) on Wednesday, July 10th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.
The family will be having a memorial Mass at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at a later date, with more details to come
I had the pleasure of knowing and working with this lovely person for 7 years. She was one of the most giving people I know. I’d just communicated with her several weeks ago and she was planning a family vacation. My sincere condolences to her daughter and her entire family.
