Gibson, Steven John, of Crystal City, Mo. 63019, born July 22, 1964 in Crystal City, Mo., passed away June 30, 2024 in St. Louis, Mo. Beloved husband of Peggy Pickering-Gibson. Dear son of John E. Gibson  and Wanda F. Gibson, both of Crystal City, Mo. Dear father of  Scotty McClure of Crystal City, Mo; Dear step-father of Jennifer (Kerry) Pinkley of Hillsboro, Mo. and Rebecca Pickering of DeSoto, Mo. Dear grandfather of Tyler Gillam of Festus, Mo., Kaitlyn Pinkley of Hillsboro, Mo., Chyann Pickering of DeSoto, Mo. and Julliegh Crowley of DeSoto, Mo. Dear brother of Erik A. Gibson of Crystal City, Mo. and Linda (Randy) King of Festus, Mo. Dear uncle of Lindsey Buff of Bloomsdale, Mo.

Steven was a 1983 graduate of Crystal City High School and was a Disabled Vet. He was a member of the Crystal City Fire Department for 15 years and served in the U. S. Army from 1986 until 1991 in the 101st Air Born. He received the National Defense Medal, Sharp Shooter M-16 rifle badge, Air Assault Badge/Wings, two Army Achievement medals, Army and over seas Ribbon. He was #1 Honor Graduate at Fort Leonard Wood in 1986 and was stationed in various U. S. and international locations.

Roadside service with full Military Honors will be held Friday July 26, 2:30 pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

  1. I am so sorry for this loss. I have such fond memories of him being the “bratty little brother” whenever I was over to the house with Linda. My favorite memory is when he wrote the word, “punk” on Linda’s Peter Frampton poster. Linda then retaliated by poking holes with a push-pin in the teeth of Steve’s Farrah Fawcett poster. Love and prayers with you all.
