Guffey, Mary Ruth

Mary Ruth (Robinson) Guffey, 86, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2023 with her family by her side.

Mary, daughter of the late Pat and Marie Robinson, grew up in Poplar Bluff, MO. After earning her Bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University and her Master’s degree from the University of Missouri, Mary became a high school business teacher. She taught 2 years at Gorham IL H.S., 1 year at Poplar Bluff H.S., and the next 27 years at Fox H.S.  in Arnold, MO.

Mary was loved and adored by her family – wife and sweetheart to George Guffey for 61 years, mother to Jennifer Roberts and the late John Guffey, grandmother to Charles Roberts, and aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Mary made the most of everything, never complained and always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. We will miss her dearly.

SERVICES:   A funeral service will be held at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Arnold, MO 2012 Missouri State Road, Arnold, MO on Friday, December 29. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until time of service. Interment to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. A service of Kutis South County Funeral Home 5255 Lemay Ferry, Road. In lieu of flowers donations in her honor appreciated to Alzheimers Association or a charity of your choice.

  2. A very dear friend and an extremely fine person. Mary could always be counted on for her support no matter how difficult the circumstances. George and Mary always showed how kindness, sincerity, and concern for others should be a part of everyone’s life.

  3. It is so hard to lose someone so special and so loved. Praying and knowing that God will see you through your sorrow.
    Aunt Mary Ruth was a great role model for my sisters and me. She showed us kindness and much love in many ways. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
