Bert Hamby, of the St. Louis area, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
Bert will be remembered for his infectious, booming laugh that could fill a room, his endless silliness that kept everyone smiling, and his gift for conversation. A true talker, he was always ready with a story, a joke, or a discussion that could stretch on for hours. His warmth, humor, and larger-than-life personality brought people together and left lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Above all else, Bert was a devoted father. His greatest joy in life was being a dad. He was always present, fiercely protective, endlessly supportive, and incredibly proud of his children. His love for them was evident in everything he did, and they remained the center of his world.
Bert was also deeply devoted to his fiancée, Rachel, whom he loved with his whole heart. She was his best friend, his confidante, his partner, and the person he chose to build his life with. Their love was a deep and unwavering bond, and Rachel will forever cherish the life they shared, the memories they made, and the love they will carry with them always.
A hardworking and deeply loyal man, Bert proudly served as a Cavalry Scout in the United States Army. Following his military service, Bert dedicated himself to building a life centered on providing for his family. He approached every responsibility with determination, pouring his energy into supporting those he loved and creating practical ways to help others.
Bert was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and paternal grandparents, as well as his godparents, Diana Wiemer-Czapla and Jeff Thomsen.
Bert is survived by his fiancée, Rachel; his children, Sasha, Adrianna, Cecelia, and Harper; his mother and father, Cissy Hamby (Wilburn) and Carson Hamby; and his beloved family members Becky Hamby, Dustin Coopman, and Anna Mastin; his nieces, Faith, Zoey, and Mia; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an Educational Trust Fund, established in honor of Bert’s commitment to his children and their future.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kutis Funeral Home, Affton Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 1:30pm at St. Martin of Tours South county
Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Bert are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
Bert- the best kickball teammate a person could ask for! I will miss your jokes and laughter. And your patience listening to my dumb jokes. We all miss you, brother!

Bert was such amazing man he was my husband best friend he was always there for us excipally for my 2 youngest we spend many weekends and day with him and his kids
When my husband past he made him a promise and he kept it and that was to always be there he was gonna help raise my middle daughter let her live with him and the kids so she can go to a good school. I will always and forever miss you bert I love you r.i
