Robert Ivan Harsh (Bob), 83, of Saint Louis, Missouri, passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 14, 2025. Born on his family farm on November 9, 1941, in Moravia, Iowa, Bob dedicated his life to family, service, and community.
He retired after more than 35 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he was proud to serve his country with integrity and commitment. Bob also made a lasting impact through his deep involvement in the Maplewood community. He served multiple terms on the Maplewood Richmond Heights School Board, was a long-time member of the Maplewood Parks Board, and was a dedicated board member for Maple Days for over 30 years.
A devoted usher at the Fabulous Fox Theater and a proud fan of the Saint Louis Cardinals, Bob also enjoyed riding his bicycle and serving others through his faith. He was an active member of Maplewood United Methodist Church, where he volunteered weekly at the Second Time Around Shop. Above all, he was a devoted family man who cherished his roles as a husband, father, Grandad, and Great-Grandad.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Janet Harsh; daughters Renee (Tim) McDonough and Courtney (Ben) Stotler; grandchildren Erin (Tim) Laurentius, Andrew (Christy) McDonough, Caroline Haines, and Henry Stotler; and great-grandchildren Amelia, William, Robert, and August Laurentius. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Maplewood United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society – Stotler Strong, causes close to Bob’s heart.
Bob’s legacy of kindness, community service, and devotion to family will live on in the many lives he touched.
Janet & Bob’s family,
I remember Bob’s enthusiasm for life as a Head Usher @ Fox Theatre. He always greeted me with a smile & asked about my drive from Cape Girardeau & my life as a Nanny for StL families! I’ve been a volunteer usher, Aisle 5, Sunday matinee, since 2014. He will be truly missed. Love & prayers for you.
Bob was my supervisor for 13 years till his retirement but was more than a boss, he was a mentor and good friend. We went to many Cardinal games together and had many lunches together after retirement where he loved to talk about family and grandkids. He was an active member in the FBI Alumni for 26 years and enjoyed the meetings to get together with all the retirees. Bob will be dearly missed.
RIP Bob
