In Loving Memory

Hasek, Virginia L.

Virginia Lee Hasek (Radaelli), born 12/25/1927, died August 10, 2017. Preceded in death by her parents John and Caroline Radaelli and brother John Jr. Dear wife of Chester Hasek, dear mother of Sandra Perkins, Christopher and Andrew, dear grandmother of Erin DeNeen Hasek, dear mother-in-law to Denise Hasek & Susan Hasek, dear cousin and friend .

Virginia was born at home in St. Louis on Christmas Day, 1927. She learned at an early age how to keep house and cared for her younger brother while her parents worked during the war years.  She attended Notre Dame Girls High School and graduated from Southwest High School in 1945. She started working for Ralston Purina as an executive assistant after high school. She and Chester married in 1950 and started a family soon after. They moved to their first and only home in Sunset Hills Estates in 1956 where they raised their three children.

Virginia was “old school”- she cooked three meals a day, kept a meticulous house, made sure her rough-and-tumble kids had clean clothes and ran a tight ship. If you left the dinner table hungry, it was your own fault! To help ends meet in the 70’s, she was a successful seasonal saleslady with Russell Stover candy company. Through the years, she stayed active in the community by volunteering at The Sappington House, St. Louis Science Center and the USO at Lambert Airport. She was especially fond of her lifelong friends called the “girls’ club” which met every month since high school. In retirement, she and Chester traveled the world and led a comfortable life in Sunset Hills.

Services: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON Chapel, Wednesday, August 16, 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. with funeral Mass at Seven Holy Founders Catholic Church at 10 a.m.
