In Loving Memory

Hawks, Libby Y.

July 18, 1953 - September 12, 2024

We deeply mourn the loss of our beloved sister, colleague and friend, Libby Hawks, who passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

Libby was born on July 18, 1953, at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri to Linda and Russell Hawks. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1971 and was a devoted member of Lafayette Park Baptist Church, where she was baptized and played on their softball team.

Libby’s first job was Fox Photos, followed by a role as a school secretary at Hickey. Libby dedicated 35 years to General American before spending an additional decade at Barnes Jewish in the billing department. At the age of 65, she enjoyed a fulfilling retirement indulging in her passions for craft fairs, luncheons, and traveling.

Libby’s kindness and warmth touched everyone she met. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to those who visited her during her time in the nursing home – your support was deeply appreciated. She was surrounded by love, and in her final moments, the presence of God.

Libby is survived by her sisters Melissa Hawks and Susan Hornburg, her brother, Steven (Patty) Hawks, as well as five nieces: Joanie (Steve) Larios, Shelli (Walter) Newbold, Linda Hawks, Jessica Hornburg and Erica (Lee) Robertson, and two nephews: Ronnie (Christine) Hawks Jr. and Steven Hawks Jr. She also leaves behind 11 great nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Linda & Russell Hawks, and her brothers Ronnie Keith Hawks and Russell Wayne Hawks.

Services will be held at Kutis Funeral Home, located at 10151 Gravois, St. Louis, MO. 63123. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 18 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with the funeral service to follow on Thursday, September 19 at 10:00 am.
