In Loving Memory

Hoechstenbach, Elaine Ann

July 15, 1939 - October 29, 2026

Elaine Ann Hoechstenbach (née Kunkel), age 87, passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, October 29, 2026, following a beautiful life filled with the blessings of family, friendship, faith, and love.

Elaine was the beloved wife of the late Herbert A. Hoechstenbach; devoted and loving mother of Steven A. Hoechstenbach; cherished grandmother of Steven C. Hoechstenbach and Holly A. Hoechstenbach; and loving daughter of the late John and Viola (“Vi”) Kunkel.

Elaine was a truly remarkable woman whose kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know her. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she lived her life with an unwavering love for her family and a genuine warmth toward everyone she encountered.

She never had an unkind word to say about anyone. Her beautiful smile was a constant source of joy, lighting up every room she entered and leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed her path. Elaine possessed that rare and wonderful gift of making others feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Her gentle nature, generous heart, and joyful spirit were reflections of a life beautifully lived.

Throughout her 87 years, Elaine found her greatest happiness in the simple but precious blessings of life: the love of her family, the companionship of dear friends, and the countless moments of laughter and togetherness that became treasured memories.

During the final six years of her life, Elaine became part of another loving family at the Village of Nazareth, where she formed meaningful friendships and touched the lives of residents, caregivers, and staff alike. Her warmth, kindness, and ever-present smile will be fondly remembered by the extended family she leaves behind there.

Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find peace and comfort in knowing that Elaine has completed her earthly journey and has been welcomed into the eternal embrace of our Heavenly Father. We take comfort in the promise that she has been reunited with her beloved husband, Herbert, and those who have gone before her.

Elaine’s legacy will live on through the love she so freely gave, the lives she touched, and the beautiful memories that will forever remain in our hearts.

And so, with love and gratitude for the blessing of her life, we say farewell for now. May Godspeed carry her home on eagle’s wings, where she will rest forever in the peace, joy, and everlasting love of our Lord.

Rest in eternal peace, dear Elaine. You were deeply loved, you will be dearly missed, and you will never be forgotten.

  1. A Loving Son’s Final Tribute to His Mother

    Mom,
I will miss you more than words could ever begin to express. You were my rock, my source of strength, and the one person I could always turn to through all of life’s ups and downs. I will forever cherish your gentle words of encouragement, your beautiful smile, and the unconditional love you so freely gave me every day of my life.

When Dad left us 24 years ago, I made you a promise that I would always be there to love, protect, and take care of you. I have done my very best to honor that promise, and while my heart aches knowing that I can no longer be there by your side, I find peace and comfort in knowing that you are now in far better hands—the loving and eternal hands of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

You and Dad sacrificed so much to give me a wonderful life, a loving home, and a strong Catholic upbringing that has guided me throughout my years. For those precious gifts, and for the countless ways you shaped the man I became, I will be eternally grateful. Everything good that you instilled in me will remain a part of who I am, and your love will continue to guide me for the rest of my days.

Mom, although I must now say goodbye, I know that love does not end when this earthly life is over. I take comfort in knowing that you and Dad are together once again, watching over us from Heaven. Until the day we meet again, please know that I will carry you in my heart, cherish every memory, and love you more than words could ever say.

I love you, Mom. Yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever.
    Your loving son,
    Steve
