Beloved wife of the late Charles H. Horn; devoted mother of Michael (Jeanne), Patrice, Thomas (Suzanne), Paul (Susan), and Holly; cherished grandmother of Steven, Ellen, Thomas (Margaret), Charles (Sarah), Edward (Colleen), John Paul, Amy and Sarah; dear great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many.
Virginia (“Ginny”) was born on July 5, 1923, to the late August and Louise Gauchat. She grew up in south St. Louis with her parents and older sisters Evelyn and Louise (“Girlie.”) She attended St. Elizabeth’s Academy before meeting and marrying Charlie. They welcomed five children and raised their family in virtue and faith. They settled in Webster Groves where she was an active parishioner at Mary Queen of Peace, a beloved member of the Red Hat society and Cornerstone bible study, and a cherished friend among the neighborhood of Goodall Manor.
Ginny was a source of light, love and joy to everyone she met. Her brightly colored, holiday-themed outfits and tight hugs brought a smile to the faces of those around her. She was a patient listener, and her positive, hopeful voice was quiet but powerful.
Her family is thankful to all those who cared for her, including the staff at Sunrise of Webster Groves.
Mass will be held at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church (676 W Lockwood Ave.) on Thursday, October 2 at 10am with visitation starting at 9am.
Ginny was my second mom, my role model, and the most loving and beautiful friend! I miss her dearly and she’ll always be in my heart and soul. Well done, Ginny, rest in peace in heaven ❤️
I was privileged to have met Ginny through my sister, Denise Skube, who was her neighbor at Goodall Manor. She left a lasting impression for her kindness and friendliness. I am grateful that Denise could share her with me. My condolences to her family. Like all moms, difficult to give up. God bless.
I have had the privilege of knowing Ginny and her family for many years. Each time I saw her I was met with a warm embrace and a very big smile! Ginny was so gracious to me and my children and she was genuinely interested in everyone in her company. We will always remember her in our hearts and prayers.
Our Aunt Ginny was always so sweet, loving, funny ,and supportive throughout our childhood and adult lives. Always lifting our spirits in her positive and gentle way.
God Bless Aunt Ginny.
Ginny was my mother‘s best friend. Pat VanCamp loved lunches out and road trips to Wisconsin. Whenever I would be escorting my mother up north she would ask me can I bring a friend.? Only if it’s Ginny.
All of my memories of companionship with my mom and Ginny and our trips to Door County I still long for another To have Ginny’s sweet smile with my mother‘s and their laughter were the most wonderful things to pack in the car. Ginny would sometimes come to events at my daughter‘s house. When Dedra‘s children were young one of her seven children said to my mom and Ginny “Look there’s two of them”. Ginny is forever in my heart and the hearts of my children and grandchildren. We’ve known no better company than Ginny. We truly loved her and miss her. ♥️Laurie And Family.

Ginnys’ smile and my moms along with their contagious laughter, were always the best luggage to pack in the car. I still long for a trip to Door County, with their presence. Now Ginny and my mom are on their own heavenly journeys. I am sure requesting a seat next to each other.
Ginny would sometimes come to family events at my daughters home. One of Dedra’s seven children, while still young, stood aan looked at Ginny and Great (my moms name). and said “look there is 2 of them”
It was their matching white hair I am sure.
Truly there was no greater a guest at anytime, then Ginny. We love and miss her.
