Hunnius, Harold Phillip

June 9, 1943 - April 30, 2024

Harold P. Hunnius, known affectionately as Sonny, passed away on April 30, 2024, in Fenton, Missouri surrounded by his family. Born on June 9, 1943, to Harold O. and Julie A. Hunnius, he was raised in south St. Louis along with his sister, Carol Boren. Harold was a lifelong resident of the St. Louis area.

Beloved husband for 58 years to Janet Hunnius (nee Kollias). Together, they raised two children: David (Stephanie) and Joseph (Samantha) Hunnius. Harold was a devoted husband and father who took immense joy in being a grandfather to his four grandchildren Matthew, Jeffrey, Eva, and Kate Hunnius.‍

The family will welcome visitors from 11am-1pm followed by a service to celebrate Harold’s life on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Kutis Funeral Home-Affton Chapel, located at 10151 Gravois Road, St. Louis, MO 63123.  Following the service, Harold will be laid to rest at St. Paul Churchyard in Affton.

In lieu of flowers, the Hunnius family kindly requests donations be made to research lung and respiratory disorders in Harold’s honor.

Harold will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
