Johnson-crop

In Loving Memory

Johnson, Joel D.

On Saturday January 7, 2023. Loving Husband of Leslie Johnson (nee DiSalvo). Beloved father of Blake and Brett Johnson. Our dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Joel spent most of his life teaching children at The Little Gym. Just recently taught swim lessons at Barron Swim School  Loved making a difference in so many children’s lives.  Worked at Carol House in both management and sales.  Enjoyed spending time with family, fishing with Brett and watching Blake play baseball and soccer.  Avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Joel was the most positive person, even during his cancer fight, he fought with such positivity all the way until the end. He will be missed by so many, but his smile and strength will continue on within his family.

Services; A memorial visitation will be held at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church (Ringer Rd.) on Friday Jan. 13 from 10AM until mass at 11AM. In lieu of flowers donations to Leslie Johnson to help with family support would be appreciated. Arrangements provided by Kutis South County Chapel.

  3. Dear Leslie, Blake & Brett

So sorry for your loss. I’m so glad you all enjoyed such a loving family & that you included Juliette ( my granddaughter) in it.

I feel a special bond for I lost my son 7years ago on 1/7/16 at 9:40 p.m.. It’s a horrible thing to go through & never goes away. But time has a way to soften the pain & makes you realize that we are blessed to have known love. BLESSINGS & STRENGHT to you & yours Jan Lenhardt

We are all in need of better words that can possibly express our feelings about Joel. You’ll hear positive a lot, and kind, but my favorite has always been….friend. Rest well my friend.

  17. Johnson family…Leslie, Blake, and Brett,

The Aboussie family is sorry for your loss. The boys are two exceptional young men that I’ve had the pleasure of teaching. In our few visits, Joel was very supportive of me, but most importantly, he was proud of Blake and Brett. It fills you up as a teacher and coach when you see that.

Our condolences, prayers, and energy are with you.

  21. Leslie and family,
There are no condolences that will truly ease the pain you all are experiencing. To heal is truly a day by day process, full of movement that staggers, then moves forward, then repeats. Trust the edges of grief do become softer as time goes on and the heaviness in your mind eases.
My boys and I walked almost your exact same path, with some stunning similarities. We want you to know we are here to help you bear witness as you turn off one path and onto another.
Holding you all in prayer, honoring your journey, and wishing you peace,
    Karen Travis and Tyler Ribley
