Beloved husband for 56 years of Elizabeth “Betty” A. Kilian (nee DeMay). Dear father of Sean (Elizabeth “Liz”) and Matthew (Shawna) Kilian. Dear grandfather of Patrick (Megan) Kilian, Abigail Kilian, Addison Key, Aryana Kilian and Beckham Kilian. Dear brother of Janine (Jeff) Forrest, Paul (Marsha) Kilian, Alan (Kris) Kilian and the late Mark (Mary) Kilian. Our dear uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend.
Mike was born and raised in St. Louis, graduated from McBride High School then St. Benedict’s College in Atchison, KS before marrying Betty on November 28th, 1969. Mike was so proud of his sons, Sean and Matt, and spent many years traveling to soccer tournaments to watch them play. Some of Mike’s most cherished memories included his close knit group of college friends. He and Betty, along with the group, loved cruising the world.
After Mike’s retirement from Unigroup, he volunteered walking dogs at Stray Rescue, spent mornings painting landscapes in parks around the city, and enjoyed his Fridays visiting brew pubs with Betty. Some of his favorite days were those spent with his grandchildren. He loved visiting them at college, seeing the newest animated movie, catching up over a chocolate malt at Crown Candy, or just sitting with them and talking about their days. Mike loved big, was loved big right back, and will be missed dearly.
SERVICES: Funeral from Kutis Affton Chapel (10151 Gravois Road Affton, Missouri 63123) Thursday, October 1, 9:30 a.m. to St. Paul Catholic Church (Fenton, Missouri) for 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Stray Rescue or Care STL appreciated. Visitation Wednesday 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
