Knichel, Shirley J. (nee Higgins) Passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026. Shirley was a loving and dear wife of the late John W. Knichel for 40 years; dear mother of the late John L., the late Gregory and Julie Knichel, Johnny Lynn, Tracy and the late Tom Rutherford; dear grandmother of Shelly, John W., Tommy, Nick, Jacob and Jeremiah; dear great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to many. Services: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, Tuesday, June 30, 4-8 p.m. with funeral services Wednesday, July 1 at 10:00 a.m. Interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Shirley Knickel could do it all, and she did. She was known and loved by everyone who met her. Our Church did Outreach for the Homeless and Shirley would help make delicious meals to serve them, this went on for years. She made sure every child she met had some type of candy on all the holidays at church. Shirley was a “giver”, not a taker. She gave and gave. Shirley was one of my dearest and best friends and I cannot believe she is gone, but she is with Christ our Savior & King, her final home going and will be forever. Jacob, Summer, Tommy and the rest of the family, my prayers & thoughts are with you all. Love you All!
