  1. As Assistant Superintendent of Personnel in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. Dr. Paul Koch demonstrated keen insight in hiring new teachers who possessed both a high degree of competence in their subject matter and a passion for teaching. As a result, many of these teachers were career teachers in the District, contributing significantly to its “glory days” during his tenure. I was one of those teachers. I am proud of my teaching career of 48 years in the District, and my longevity was largely due to the atmosphere created by such people as Dr. Koch during my “formative years” in the profession. I had the privilege to teach three of his four children with whom I still maintain friendships. My deepest sympathy to his family.
