Steve was such a wonderful person. I was the third string goalie at Chaminade behind Tim and Steve. I have such fond memories of training with and supporting Steve. He was such a graceful keeper. More importantly, though, he was such a gentle and kind soul. He will be sorely missed. I want to offer my deepest condolences to his wife and children and family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.

Steve was one of the first people we met after moving to St. Louis many years ago (he and Kasey). A true friend to all—kind, funny, warm and so welcoming. I’m grateful for the times we had together. Sending my condolences and prayers, Michelle Markee

To Mary & the entire Kozeny family, my thoughts & prayers are with you during this difficult time in celebrating the life of your Steven Jr. May God bless you with strength and hold you near in the days to come. The word says in John 14…“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Love you, and may God continue to Bless you!

I am sad for the Kozeny family. Steve played soccer with our son (Drew Southards) at younger age and I remember Steve being very energetic leader on the team. He has left us way too early and our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I will pray for all of you as you grieve this hurt and please call on me if I can help in anyway!

I am so sorry for your loss. Steve and I became close during our time at Chaminade. We played soccer together and developed a strong relationship during those years. I remember times spent at his house and some of the trouble we got in 🙂 Steve was an amazing goalkeeper and even a better friend.

Steve and I were not close but I had many conversations with him on the glass at hockey practices and games. I never once heard him say anything negative about anyone and, he loved to talk about “Koz” and his daughter Addison. Gone way too soon.

Nothing can be said that will help the pain and sadness that you have and will continue to experience. The lives that Steve touched are apparent in the support and love that has been shown. Memories are something that you will always have to keep his spirit fresh in your heart and soul. Our thoughts are with you and your families.

Dearest Mary and Family,
I was shocked to hear of the sudden death of Steven
While the loss of a loved one is never easy, even when anticipated, it is most certainly the hardest when they are taken from us too soon. Your recent loss of your son who has left us at such a youthful age is definitely in the category of those hard losses for which there is so painful a reminder of what might have been.
I offer my sincere condolence and deepest sympathy on your loss. May the outpouring of sympathy, the kind acts of friends and strangers and the comfort in knowing that your loss is felt by many, help you through this difficult time.
I ask for God’s blessings on you and your wonderful family. May you find the courage and strength to move forward in peace and confidence and in knowing that his was a life well-lived.
Yours In Peace,
Susan Gummersbach
