Emigene (Jean) LaBruyere, of St. Louis, MO passed peacefully at the age of 93 on February 8, 2023. Jean was born in Mound City, IL, the first of five children to Hallie and Emma Volner. She was preceded in death by her late husband Chester W. LaBruyere. Jean was the beloved mother of Chester (Shari) LaBruyere Jr. and Steven (Donna) LaBruyere, grandmother to Tyler LaBruyere and Cody (Elizabeth) LaBruyere, great grandmother to Lillian LaBruyere and Norah LaBruyere. Cherished sister, cousin, aunt and friend to all who were blessed to have known her.
Jean enjoyed many hobbies, especially playing her musical instruments which included the piano, ukulele, organ and harmonica. She was also an avid reader of the Bible. Her strong faith encouraged her to donate to many charities and to help others whenever she could because she believed that in doing so she was also serving God’s will.
Jean will be remembered by all that knew her for her kindness, generosity, strength and quick wit. Although she may be temporarily gone from our sight, she will never be gone from our hearts.
Romans 8:18
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
To Jean:
It’s hard to make a comment
To say the way I’m feeling.
I’m stunned; I’m in denial.
My head and heart are reeling . . .
I knew that this could happen,
But just what will I do?
When I need a friend to talk to,
I could always go to you.
So if I failed to comment,
I would surely be remiss.
You’re so loved by friends and family,
And you dearly will be missed.
Love and prayers,
Sue Tygart
My sympathies to the LaBruyere family.

Our thoughts are with you every moment since you were called to Our Lord’s loving arms. We miss you terribly and will see you again when the Lord opens His gates to us and all you love you.

Aunt Jeanie,
I always felt close to you, privy to what your life had going on.
My life was a world tossed on its head when I realized, I felt close to you because of my mom.
I reached out to you, to find you fumbling in the dark trying to get to the other end.
You were lost without her too, more than just sister-in -laws, you were close friends.
Our journey began, we laughed, we cried, talked about everything under the sun.
Suddenly now over, shortly after it had begun.
I knew the day was coming and that there was no way to prepare.
What I could do is call and visit and I enjoyed being there.
I’m glad I reached out. I Love you

We miss you dearly Jean! One of the best neighbors anyone could ever have. We loved chatting with Jean after our walks. We would wave to her just about every morning in her sun porch. She ALWAYS looked fantastic in her dresses and, on a rare occasion, pants. She was a classy lady. Rocket still looks over by her fence and thinks Jean is going to come out and give him a treat. May you rest in peace my friend. Our sincere condolences to her family.

I am so very sorry I was unaware of Jean’s passing. She was dear woman and so very classy. She was my supervisor and my friend; we stayed in touch over the years and I always wrote to her on her birthday, and we would chat that way for a couple of days.
I am very sorry for the loss of our friend and to her family for the loss of their matriarch. May she remain in peace and happiness. She will be missed. As I always ended my emails ~~ ”love you bunches, Jean”. xo xo
