In Loving Memory

Lane, Sheridan Arland “Curly”

Sheridan Arland “Curly” Lane was born September 18, 1940, and died July 25, 2024 at the age of 83. Curly passed peacefully in his sleep due to lung cancer with pneumonia complications. Curly loved the lord, was a brilliant logistician, an entertaining musician, and all around genuinely loving person. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.

Curly was born in Nashville, TN to Arland and Margie (Faulkner) Lane. He was the oldest of five children. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harrison and Vernon Lane. He is survived by his brother Joeseph Lane and sister Ruby Villa.

In his 83 years, Curly was a dishwasher, US Marine, truck driver, business owner, Vice President of Corporate Logistics, and held numerous roles as a board member for a variety of organizations. His longest employer was the former Falcon Companies of St. Louis, MO. He first started working as a truck driver for the Falcon Companies and retired as the Vice President of Corporate Logistics.

He had three wives in the course of his life. He was once married to Juanita Moran of Nashville, TN and Maryln Roman of St. Louis, MO before he finally married the true love of his life, Judy (McMillen) of St. Louis, MO.  Curly and Judy married in Festus, MO on June 28, 1968. Curly and Juanita are parents to Gloria Perry of Troy, TN and Teresa (Phil) Russo of St. Louis, MO. Curly and Maryln are parents to Harrison Lane of High Ridge, MO. Curly and Judy are parents of Waco (Annette) Lane of Lawton, OK and Jody (Chris Ross) McManus of Des Peres, MO. A devout family man, Curly, had a wonderful and engaging relationship with each of his ten Grandchildren, and seven Great-Grandchildren.

Throughout his life Curly had a wide variety of hobbies and interests. He loved to fish and golf; he enjoyed hosting cookouts with his extended family and friends; and was always willing to tell a captivating story of his life. In his younger years he enjoyed drag racing, while in his middle years he rode horses. In his later years he was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Arnold and numerous musical groups. As a lifelong guitar picker and entertainer, Curly, hosted many musical shows throughout the St. Louis, Festus, DeSoto, and High Ridge areas.

Curly was a Marine veteran, leader of many organizations, and friend to every person he met. He had a magnanimous personality that always filled every room he entered. Curly had no known enemies but was blessed with a seemingly infinite number of friends. He was a devout Christian, a fair and loving father, a devoted husband, and a dependable friend.

Curly will be laid to rest at the Peaceful Ridge Cemetery on route 110 in DeSoto, MO on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 1:00 pm.  Visitation will be at Kutis Funeral Home at 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd, Mehlville, MO on Wednesday, July 31 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and at 10:00 – 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Arnold. His departure will have a profound impact on those that had the pleasure of knowing him. His network of those that will miss him spans coast to coast, from multimillionaires to the poverty stricken, and people with a variety of, or no religion. On Wednesday, July 25, 2024 the world lost one of its finest.

  6. Curly was my mom’s boss at Falcon. He use to tell the funniest stories of the pranks they did including a whoopy cushion, water guns and melted ice cream left in one’s desk. He loved to tell stories, make jokes and just laugh so hard. He use to take my brother and I boating at Lake of the Ozarks and try to flip us off the tube. He was a dear family friend and will be so missed.
