In Loving Memory

Laura Marie Herzberg

Laura Marie Herzberg aged 53, Dec. 30, 1966 –  Apr. 25, 2020. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Laura Marie Herzberg left this world peacefully concluding a remarkable, 11-year battle with cancer that beat all odds and shattered expectations.

An entrepreneur in every sense, Laura paved her own path both in work and in wellness. Her travel business embodied her sense of adventure and inspired her eventual certification as a nutritional health coach. She understood the importance and the benefits of a life well-lived and well-rounded.

Although she traveled the world ardently, Laura fondly called St. Louis, MO home her entire life. From here, she shared her love, unending knowledge, and energy most affectionately with her husband, Matthew, her three children, Matthew II (and wife Kristin), Amanda (and partner Chris), and Henry. Additionally, she was a beloved grandmother to her three granddaughters, Katherine, Julia, and Evelyn. She is survived as well by her proud parents Robert and Diana Christman and her two brothers and four sisters. Among her devoted and many family roles, she was an inspiration to all she met. It is now our collective task to emulate her passion, character, determination, and conviction to make the world a better and healthier place. Laura’s smile, fiery spirit, and love of life are already sorely missed.

Services: Given circumstances, memorial services for Laura will permit only immediate family members in person–her funeral Mass will live stream from Queen of All Saints on Thursday, April 30 at 10 AM CST. Please join us using https:////qasstl.org//news//mass-streaming. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating in Laura’s name to The Laura Christman Herzberg Class of 1985 Memorial Scholarship Fund, Cor Jesu Academy 10230 Gravois Rd, St. Louis, MO 63123.

  3. I have had the honor and privilege to know Laura since she was a small child. Laura came from a large family and even a larger extended family when including all her Aunts, Uncles and cousins! I was lucky enough to become friends with this large extended family and to become close to both Laura’s parents and her siblings. Laura was usually one of the quieter ones of the group, but she did not take any guff from anyone! I enjoyed our friendship, our talks and the laughter at outings where we would see each other.

Her infectious smile and slight laugh will be greatly missed by so many. While she was a success at her career, Laura was a greater success as a wife, Mother and Grandmother. Laura has unquestionably left her mark in this world. Her 11-year battle with cancer should be an inspiration to all, that by fighting their illness and not giving up, many milestones can be achieved. Thank You Laura for being my Friend!

  7. Laura was a true Christian person. She was loving and willing to do whatever she could to help without looking for the glory. She was a true definition of the word honest. You always knew where she stood and was not afraid to tell you when you were wrong. She was so proud of her family and like all Christmans , you messed with one you messed with all of us. I love you Laura and miss you already. God bless you and keep you. Tell Bobby and Aunt Kathy we all say hello.❤️

  9. Laura was a fellow classmate from Cor Jesu Academy (Class of ’85).
I am saddened to hear she lost the battle to her illness.
I remember her smile, her laugh and her overall positivity. She was genuinely one of the kindest people from our class.
Our senior year, I rode with Laura to and from school. We had great conversations during these rides.
I admire the love her and Matt shared. Not many can say they married their high school sweetheart! Their family is certainly a testament to their love and commitment to one another.

While many of us feel God may have called Laura home at too young of an age, she truly left her mark on many.
I am grateful I was able to know someone like Laura. She may be gone from this world but not from our memories. She was beautiful inside and out.
    Rest in peace, Laura.
“Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in you.”

  15. Laura coached me and was guiding me down a healthy and more natural approach to fighting my cancer. I want to be just like her. The first conversation I had with her I felt like I was winning with her on my side and looking out for me. Not just with health issues, but life and lessons she’s learned. She gave me so much food for thought in the last several months we’d text all the times just to check in with a funny emoji or “hey girl!” . She was telling me books to read and movies to watch. She let me know it was ok to have bad days but don’t spend much time there. She was very spiritual and loved helping others. I could tell she loved inspiring me and seeing me grow more strong. She is and always will be the epitome of beauty, strength and grace. Her life was well spent she would have said, but she has much to do and I see God needed an angel. Miss you Laura…

  27. Laura was the strongest person I knew. I’ll always remember that beautiful little girl I used to babysit. I knew she was smarter than I was by time she was 7. She was always in charge and loved her family greatly. She will be greatly missed.
