In Loving Memory

Lesyna Jr., Thomas F.

September 27, 1966 - November 1, 2025

Thomas F. Lesyna Jr., 59, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 1st, 2025 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Beloved son of Barbara J. Lesyna (Schulte) and late Thomas F. Lesyna Sr.  Brother to the late Stephen Lesyna.  Loving father to Sarah Votaw (Michael Jones), Jessica (John) Baker, and Stephanie Lesyna (Ethan Maxwell).  Devoted grandfather to Easton & McKenna Votaw, Graeson, Grady, & Gwynn Baker, and Roman Maxwell.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 27, 1966.  Tommy and his brother enjoyed BMX bike racing in their youth.  He graduated from Eisenhower High School in Decatur, Illinois in 1984 and went on to receive his Bachelors of Science in Communications from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1990.  He had a passion for the news and always catching the latest story.  His career found him as an Executive News Producer for Channel 25 News in Peoria, Illinois.  Tommy’s other passions included playing softball and ice hockey.  This, along with the dedication he had to his daughters, led to him coaching their many hockey and soccer teams along with becoming President of their show choir.  For anyone that knew Tommy, you knew he loved his sports!  He was a diehard fan of the: St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He loved watching his Formula One and NASCAR racing.  Tommy also loved visiting his family/ friends in Canada! So much so, that many people thought he was Canadian. He had a Canadian flag on his desk at work that found its way to his hospital room and stayed with him throughout his whole journey.

Tommy was a caring, beloved, professional, humorous, admired, dedicated and supportive man.  His final goodbye to his three daughters was “I just want you three girls to know that no matter what happens, you are the best things that have ever happened to me. I have loved being your dad.”  His family is thankful for the loving care he received from Barnes Jewish Hospital and the outpouring love and support from so many people in his life.
