  35. I cannot believe this! Not Joe Lopez—this is an unbelievably heartbreaking loss. Mr. Lopez was my first Supervisor at the VA STL—a good, good, man—everyone wanted to work for him, because he was a real Supervisor’s Supervisor!!! He took care of his people, took care of the Veterans, had a great sense of humor, was kind and gentle, and was simply a very good person and a lovable human being. This is a terrible loss for all of us at the VA and the Veterans as well. My sincere condolences to Mr. Lopez’ family and the staff of his Prosthetics office who are surely feeling this loss, as well as I am. Take your rest and know that you did your very best. Rest in Honor and in Peace.

  37. Dear Kim and family,

We are deeply saddened in Joe’s passing, and sorry you lost your best friend and the love of your life. May the heartwarming memories that you and Joe shared help you through each day. Joe was a wonderful and humble man, and a dear friend. He was so much fun to be around and he will be greatly missed. We will forever treasure knowing him from our time in the Air Force and then meeting up with the both of you again years later through our Motorcycle association — the rides we took together were the best, especially the one to New Mexico for your Birthday. You are in our thoughts and prays Kim, God bless you and your family.

First, my heart felt condolences go out Kim, Senica, Jacob, Chip, Chrissy, Jessica, and his grandkids. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Joseph was a year and 8 months older than me. His nickname for me was “Lorettini.” I never found out where he came up with that but I always thought it was cute. It’s still hard to believe he’s gone but he is DEFINITELY will never be forgotten. His laugh, his big and tight hugs when greeting me and saying good-byes, and his advices will be greatly missed. Brother, I miss you and love you and always will. May you RIP. Now go ride high hermano and watch over us down here!!! I love you!! ❤️

Such an incredible loss for you and your family and really everyone that Joe has touched. I moved to IL 15 yrs ago. I had some opportunities for jobs but when I interviewed for a position in Prosthetics at JB I knew I had found more than just a job, I found a family I so desperatelyneeded – thanks to Joe. Joe was an amazing supervisor, mentor and friend. He truly cared for us as a team and family. The Veterans he served always came first. He has a heart of gold and truly an absolutely incredible person. He was larger than life, I still hear his laughter and it makes me smile through the tears. He often talked of his beautiful wife Kim, their family and grandchildren, his Mom and Dad, the loss of his brothers and the things he was looking forward to in retirement. I will forever carry him in my heart and thoughts. He will never ever ever ever be forgotten.

As a very close friend of his daughter Jessica, I was lucky to tag along often, and have a birds-eye view of just how much he loved his family. He truly treated every single person he met (that he liked, of course…) as if they were also a part of his family. My heart aches knowing he was about to retire and transition into a full-time grandpa, father & spouse. I’ll be thinking of the entire family during this trying time, especially his beloved wife, Kim. As strong as you are Kim, I know how much sorrow and pain you are enduring during this time. Now is the time to lean heavily on the support system you all have built over the years. From immediate family to extended family, we are here for you.
