Loughran

In Loving Memory

Loughran, Patrick W.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Loughran (née Petsch), with their two children, Kayla Loughran and Briona Hartsell (née Hatch). He was the beloved son of Marilyn Schultheis (née Loughran) and the late William Loughran, step-son of Stephen Schultheis; beloved brother of Gene Loughran, Bill Loughran, Kevin Loughran, Shannon Scharff (née Loughran), and preceded in death by Brian Loughran. He was an adored uncle to dozens of nieces and nephews, cherished brother-in-law and father-in-law, and the greatest Paw-Paw to Braelyn and Brayden Harstell.

Patrick was born on April 6th, 1961 in St.Louis, Missouri, where he has lived all his life. He graduated from Northwest High School in House Springs in 1979, and subsequently earned an Associates Degree from Jefferson College. Becoming a master automotive technician, he worked alongside his brother, Bill, at JB Automotive before moving to Arvin Auto Service in Ellisville, which he went on to own for the last 20 years. There, he had no shortage of loyal customers; he was the most honest, hardworking man, with so many who adored and respected him.

Though proud of his business, Patrick loved nothing more than spending his weekends at his house on Table Rock Lake with his family, fishing and boating from sunrise to sunset. He had a lifelong passion for bowling and was a member of the bowling leagues at West County Lanes, often traveling to ABC Bowling Tournaments across the country. Many of his nights were spent going to the movies and jamming out to the oldies (Styx, ELO, Boston, et al.) with his daughter, Kayla, and taking dance lessons with his wife, Cindy.

He was a devoted husband, an incomparable father, a playful grandfather, and the most generous, kind-hearted brother, family member, and friend.

There was never any shortage of laughter and love in his presence, and he will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m at Kutis Affton on 10151 Gravois Road. Baptist memorial service will be held in the chapel the following morning — Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 8:30 a.m — before interment at Park Lawn Cemetery.

Flowers are welcome, as are tributes made to the National Brain Tumor Society (https://braintumor.org/), the leading organization in brain cancer research and advocacy.

  3. Sending condolences and prayers to Pat’s family especially his wife Cindy, daughters, siblings and grandchildren. As a loyal customer for 20 years, my family depended on Pat for his honesty, knowledge, and good natured way of explaining automotive issues.

Pat was the kindest man. Several times when I told him I was going to walk home after a car drop, Pat drove me home instead. Praying for his Arvin Auto work family as well.

  5. Our deepest sympathies to the Laughranfamily. We have been loyal customers of the shop for many years. Pat was our trusted advisor when it came to our cars. He was kind and considerate. He was always caring and always had his customers best interest when performing services. I always remember the story I heard when other shops would call him for advice when they did not know how to fix a car. We will miss him dearly.

  11. We are so sorry to hear about Pat! We are keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers. We have been customers of Pat for well over 20 years, probably closer to 25. He always went beyond the call for our family. He would talk to us and our kids when we had car troubles no matter where we were. He would always take the time to help us no matter how busy he was. We trusted his opinion and work so much. We became friends over the years and considered him as another member of our family. Everyone at his company has been so wonderful to us and I don’t know what we would do without them. And Pat was the head of them. He was a very kind, giving, talented and wonderful man. We will miss him greatly. We are so happy that he had you all as such a loving family. He was always fantastic to us. We could really trust him and he always had our back. Thank you for sharing your wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa with all of us who he took care of at Arvin. God bless you all and may God console you in this most difficult time. Sending you love and comfort!!

  15. Pat was our go-to guy for car maintenance, and what a rare thing to find a completely honest and trustworthy person to take care of that very important possession. Pat always had a little smile and twinkle in his eye. He was kind and generous and a wonderful person.

  19. I knew Patrick and his family when they lived in Glasgow Village as he was growing up. It was the 1960s. He truly was a wonderful person. He had a sense of humor. I do not think he had an enemy in the world. Though I did not keep in touch with Patrick and his family when they moved to High Ridge I would still remember the Loughrans when I would recall the days of my youth in Glasgow Village. Rest in peace Patrick William Loughran mis amigo ! May God bless !
