DAvid Lundgren

In Loving Memory

Lundgren, David W.

November 30, 1938 - January 8, 2025

Lundgren, David W, loving husband of 63 years and survived by Margaret Ann Lundgren and their children, Mark (Randi), Mike (Laura), Robert (Pilar), Paul and John Lundgren; and grandchildren, Nicholas, Chloe, Mads, Clay, Derek, Ryan (deceased), Lauren, Logan, Lars, Christina, Isabella, Kayla, Joseph and Juliana Lundgren; and great-grandchildren Hudson, Everleigh and Tatum; brother of Donald Lundgren and dear son of the late Mortimer and Margaret Lundgren.

Dave was masterful at entertaining his grandchildren, always able to make them smile and laugh at every family gathering.  Having been a former soccer coach for an international traveling team, and a passionate advocate for the growth of organized soccer in St. Louis, Dave became a Commissioner and Board Member of the St. Louis Soccer Park, helping take it from conception to a fully constructed state-of-the-art sports complex.

Dave is an alumni of the Christian Brothers College, class of 1956.  He was a dedicated employee of the St. Louis Post Dispatch for 33 years, playing an important role in ushering-in computerized production.  In the two decades following his retirement, Dave competed in over 15 marathons, 50 half-marathons, countless local races and he loved being a regular part of the Senior Olympics.

Dave had a very strong faith and attended daily mass after his morning of jogging in Forest Park.  Dave was an adoring husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend, who after he could no longer run, absolutely treasured going for early morning fitness walks in Forest Park.

A memorial service will be held on March 29th, 2025 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Kirkwood, Missouri at 11:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Forest Park Forever fund.

Condolences
