Joyce Ann Maas, age 78, passed from this earthly life to her heavenly home, surrounded and loved by her family, on Monday, September 14, 2026. She was born on Friday, April 2nd, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Edgar Frank Maas and Louise Anna Katherine (nee Brueseke) Maas. Joyce was the oldest of three children.
Joyce is survived by; her sisters, Carol (Leman) Kelley and Janet (Steve) McAllister; Laura Enghauser, sister-in-law; Joyce’s nieces and nephew, Jacqueline (Ross) Redburn, Julia (Mark) Barhorst and Steven (Jessica) McAllister; her great nieces and nephews, Braeden Hurd, Caleigh Barhorst, Chloe Redburn, Grace McAllister and Hayley McAllister; her cousins and her many friends, including Bruce Buckland and Betsy Ballin.
She is preceded in death by her great nephew Jacob Allen Redburn.
Joyce attended Harrison Grade School and then Beaumont High School. In her senior year, she transferred to the new Northwest High School in St. Louis City and was part of it’s inaugural graduating class.
After graduation, she attended the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Later, her choice of jobs demonstrated caring nature. Joyce first worked at a nursing facility and then began work at Christian Northeast Hospital when it opened in 1975. She was a devoted employee, working there for 38 years, as a Surgical Central Supply Attendant, before retiring in 2013. At Christian Northeast, Joyce met and worked with people who became her lifelong friends as they shared vacations, free time and other life events. She enjoyed traveling, music concerts and the simple pleasures of life shared with friends and family.
Joyce was a follower of Christ and displayed genuine caring, concern, compassion and friendliness to all, as taught in the Bible. She could easily strike up a conversation with a friend or someone she just met, helping them smile and feel at ease.
Joyce will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Services; Visitation at Kutis South County Chapel (5255 Lemay Ferry) on Saturday September 26, 2026. from 11AM until time of service at Noon. Interment Shepherd Hills Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
