I knew Philip from grade school until I moved away as a teen aged. He made an impression on me. I knew that he would be a successful musician even then. I’ll never forget hearing him play for the first time in music class, I was amazed! I got to see him play at some place in St. Louis around ten years ago. My wife and I was just walking down the street and there was a street sign with Philips name and picture, I grabbed my wife’s wrist and drug her in and told her hold on to your hat you’re getting ready to be amazed. He didn’t disappoint he was amazing. I never got a chance to talk to him that night. I wish I had tried harder. Rest in peace my friend I hope heaven has a piano bar in it. I promise to make sure I get to say hi next time I hear you play.
