John G. Martinez, 93, of St. Louis, MO, died Thursday, June 15, 2023, following a brief illness. John was a longtime Dogtown resident, a combat veteran of the Korean War, and the owner of Martini Supply Co. He loved to travel and entertain friends and family with his wife, the late Geraldine Yates Martinez (nee Jaech). He also enjoyed bass fishing, was a voracious reader, and a student of science and history. Born January 13, 1930, to Francisco “Frank” and Consuelo Valverde Martinez Hernandez in Kansas City, MO, John was predeceased by his parents; his wife; two sons, Michael and Phillip Martinez; brothers Frank, Henry, and Jorge Martinez; and, his sister, Ophelia (Pila) Soaib. He is survived by stepdaughter Kathryn Ann Yates Pagano and her husband, Tom; grandsons Peter, Andrew, and Matthew (Julie) Pagano; granddaughter Brandy Iniguez, of Murrieta, CA; five great-grandchildren, Rosemary and Adriana Pagano, and Juan, Robert, and Anthony Iniguez; and, longtime friend, Frank Clymer. Our deep appreciation for the wonderful care John received from the staffs of BJC St. Peters, the Villages of St. Peter (rehab), Solace Hospice Care, and the Clarendale Senior Community, St. Peters. Visitation will be from 8:45 a.m. to 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, at Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois, Affton, followed by burial with honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
