Darlene Janet Masterson died on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at the age of 88 years. She was born 1/29/33 in St. Louis MO to William (Bill) and Dorthea (Dot) Meier. She had three siblings: Theresa Zimbelmann, Beverly Luebbers, and William Meier.
In addition to her brother Bill and his wife, Karen, she is survived by her three children: Scott Masterson, Randall Masterson, and Donna Overmann, along with their spouses, Patty Masterson, Carolyn Masterson, and James Overmann.
She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Jayme Vessell (wife of Mark Vessell) Jacob Overmann (husband of Anita Overmann) Evan Masterson, David Masterson, and Julia Masterson, as well as her great granddaughter, Kaylee, along with nephews and nieces.
Darlene was raised in south St. Louis and lived most of her life in the St. Louis area. She married Donald George Masterson on July 11,1953, and was a devoted wife until his death on 4/21/1987. She had several jobs over the years, including employment with Anheuser-Busch, Best Western, Commonwealth Title, and Grants Farms. Her life took a decidedly different turn when she began to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on 4/24/1974. She maintained a close relationship with Jehovah the rest of her life, spending the last few decades in the Lemay Congregation.
It seemed like everyone who came to know her (neighbors, workmates, her congregation friends) made an immediately connection with her in a personal, unique way. “She never met a stranger.” After a fall a few months earlier, Darlene passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 7:30 a.m.
We invite you to join A Zoom service which will be held Saturday at 4:00 March 13, 2021. Please contact Scott Masterson Scottmasterson73@yahoo.com or Donna Overmann overmann1022@gmail.com to attend. First class woman in every possible way. She will be missed by all but her place in my heart will live on forever.
First class woman in every possible way. She will be missed by all but her place in my heart will live on forever.
She had all those great qualities that makes you love a person, generosity, self-sacrifice, love, compassion, spirituality, good humor, mildness, such an amazing woman that we’re eager to see her again in the resurrection, to enjoy her company again, but this time forever! Thanks to Jehovah, our most merciful God!
