Diana “Di” McCarthy, 63, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on July 30, 2023 surrounded with love and laughs in her home, just as she wished.
Di’s request for arrangements will be honored as follows: Visitation for close family will begin at 8:30 A. M. with public visitation from 9 A. M. to 12 P. M. on Saturday, August 12th at Kutis Funeral Home, located at 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd in St. Louis, MO. A service will follow at 12 Noon at the same location. There will not be a burial as she requested to have a viewing, then be cremated, celebrated, and taken to Hawaii (or someplace tropical).
Di was proudly born in St. Louis to Robert “Bob” and Meta McCarthy on August 15, 1959. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1977. She married Kevin Downey on March 17, 2018. Di retired in 2019 from the United States Postal Service where she took into her heart a handful of bonus “kids” during her years as a Clerk.
In recent years, Di enjoyed partying with friends, going to concerts as a bigtime music lover, and taking drives through the park. Some other pastimes included doing Sudoku puzzles, watching ridiculous reality shows, and most importantly, spending time with friends and family. Di especially adored and enjoyed her grandbabies beyond measure.
Di left this world much too young but was greeted with arms wide open by her parents, Bob and Meta and sister Cheryl McCarthy.
Di is already missed beyond words by her husband, Kevin Downey, her daughter, Jill Montgomery (spouse Garrett Russell) and grandbabies Elric and Mara, her stepdaughter Sarah Downey (partner Ron) and grandbabies R. J., Paizlee, and Easton. Also, brothers John McCarthy (spouse Cheryl), Ron McCarthy (spouse Brenda), sister Terry Wyatt (spouse William), multiple nephews, nieces, and so many dear friends she considered family.
For years, Di had said she didn’t want everyone standing around crying over her and to, “Just have a party for me!” We can’t promise no tears, but we sure can give her that party!! 2 P. M. to 6 P. M. at the Spanish Society, 7107 Michigan Ave, St. Louis, MO.
In the words of the late Di Mac, “SEE YA!”
