McClain Sr., Charles Herman

 

 

Charles Herman McClain Sr., 80, of Imperial died March 26, 2017, in Imperial. Mr. McClain was a foreman with Granite City Steel and National Steel. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 673 in Arnold and Masonic Lodge 576 in O’Fallon, Ill.. He also was a member and president of the Winter Texans in Brownsville, Texas; a host mentor for the Gonzales School; and a volunteer with the  Sisters of St. joseph Center. He was born july 12 1936, in Marystown, Ill., the son of the late Aurthur F. and Olga E. (Asselmeier) McClain.

He is survived by his wife: Delores J. McClain; a son: Charles H. McClain Jr.; three daughters: Charlotte L. E. (Louis) Hittler, Cherlynn M.A. “Sis” McClain and Charmayne D. J. (Timothy) Davis; 10 grandchildren: Curtis (Tiffany) Strite, William (Lisa) McClain, Joshua (Raven) Driscoll, Zachary (Alyssa) Myers, Chrystal Lamm, Chelsea McClain, Michael Stewart, Emily Strite, Jessica (Mark) Flewelling and Nicholas McClain-Scott; 17 great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Fern C. Chlibec, Joyce Ernst and Janet (Gordon) Osterhage.

He was preceded in death by  a daughter: Charlene E. McClain; two grandchildren: David E. Bouse and Alicia McClain; and four siblings: Flora Kiem, Patricia A. Carroll, James R. McClain and Lloyd W. McClain.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in St. Louis County. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at the funeral home. Burial is in the Park Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home.
