McGee Carol Jean (nee Rodgers)

December 11, 1932 - September 12, 2023

Carol Jean McGee, 90, born December 11, 1932 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023 after battling Alzheimer’s for many years.  Beloved wife of Harold McGee for 28 years, father of Deborah Bigham (Thomas), James Eckhard and Jeffrey Eckhard (Barbara). Grandmother of Jesse Bigham (Melissa), Jody Crofford, and Stephanie Andrus (Mark), Matthew and Elizabeth Eckhard, Andrew and Hannah Eckhard. She also has 12 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Harold McGee, son Kurt Eckhard (Micci), her parents, Johanna and Chester Rodgers, her brother Marion Rodgers and her sister Joan Kreps and husband Joseph Kreps. Once Carol’s husband had passed away, her companion became her newly adopted dog Ernie who was a big piece of her life for 13 years.

Carol was also an aunt, great aunt and great great aunt, cousin and friend to many.  She graduated from Roosevelt High School (’51) and worked many years as a waitress at Famous Barr. She loved dancing and traveling the country with her husband in their RV. She also spent time volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross and she served as a council woman for the City of Crestwood. Carol loved her home and she was always working in her garden and around the house.

Visitation Saturday, September 16, 9:00 a.m. until Service 11 a.m. at 2906 Gravois Rd. Interment St. Trinity Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Missouri, ATTN: Donations, 1201 Macklind Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110.  https://hsmo.org/

  1. We knew Carole as a friend during her Alzheimer’s Memory Care. She laughed when we played Ballon bounce and loved to dance at the get-togethers. My wife, Betty, also an Alzheimer’s patient, was better for having Carole as a companion and friend for almost three years together. God Bless them together again.

  2. Well Carol Jean would have been at the funeral parlor if I had known earlier. I do miss our days on Arban. We had so much fun.It has not been the same since you and Mac left here.Fly high girl.Love you. Save a place for me.
