McGuire

In Loving Memory

McGuire, Larry A.

January 2, 1949 - February 13, 2026

Larry A McGuire was born on January 2, 1949 in St Louis, Missouri to John and Lila Faye (Scott) McGuire, and entered into rest on February 13, 2026 at the age of 77.

Devoted and loving husband of nearly 56 years to Sharon McGuire (nee Schuessler). Dear father of Marc (Christine) McGuire and Jason McGuire. Dear Grandpa of Nicholas McGuire and Great Grandpa of Amara Fierro-McGuire. Dear brother of Garry McGuire and Erin McGuire, and his late sister, Karen Hard. Dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and many, many friends. Lest we not forget his 2 lap buddies: Kobe and Jaxon, our chiweenies!

Larry served as a sonar technician in the US Navy aboard the USS Johnston and the USS Glennon, service years being 1969-1973. He made (2) Mediterranean cruises, (1) short Cuba cruise, and (1) Vietnam cruise. He was always proud of his service to our country and upon retirement from his working life he joined the St Louis Patriot Guard Riders in order to honor all our veterans. He also volunteered for the Veterans Community Projects, helping build ‘tiny homes’ and working at the Food Pantry.

One of his earlier loves in life was country western dancing with his wife and dance friends which was big in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s in the St Louis area. He also enjoyed camping and traveling the United States and western Canada. With the dancing and the Patriot Guard he made many good and loyal friends.

From his grandson, Nic: He knew how to make great memories with those around him that will be everlasting in our hearts. Larry’s life can’t be defined for one moment as he’s blessed us with an infinite amount of moments that made him the heart of our family.

Loved beyond words; missed beyond measure!

Donations to: Missouri Patriot Guard Riders or the American Cancer Society.

Services: Procession will take place from Kutis South County Chapel  5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. on Friday, February 20, departing 10 a.m. to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for 10:30 a.m. Roadside Service.

Condolences

  2. My shipmate sailed ahead of me to The Promise Land. He and Sharon had an apartment across the hall from my wife and I just off the Naval Base, Charleston, S.C. Best of friends since 1969; their visits to our home in Georgia, and our visit to their home on our way to Omaha for my retirement dinner. Our love and prayers, Stephen & Mary Ann Brown
