McKenna

In Loving Memory

McKenna, Patrick R.

Patrick R. McKenna February 6, 1943 – December 30, 2024

Patrick Roy McKenna, beloved father, departed this life and went to be with Jesus, his Savior, on December 30, 2024. He was a man of unwavering love, a dry sense of humor and possessed a selflessness that touched many. He was the cherished father to Audrey Wittenauer (Christopher) and Dorothy Bailey, the treasured grandfather (Pa Pa) to Jack, Alex, McKenna, Asher, and Gracie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Dorothy McKenna, his older sisters, Patsy Coombs and Jeanne Recklein, as well as his beloved older brother and best friend, Richard McKenna.

Born and raised in East St. Louis, Illinois, Patrick honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a Military Police Officer. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he served with distinction. After returning home from overseas, Patrick joined his father and brother in the family trade, working as a proud member of Pipefitters Local 439 until his well-earned retirement.

Patrick was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Fairview Heights for years, where he contributed to their outreach ministry and was known for his kind heart and strong commitment to helping others.

A private family service will be held prior to burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

He will forever be missed and always remembered with love by all who knew him, but we are comforted by the knowledge that he is now resting in the arms of his Savior. Though he is no longer with us in body, his legacy of love, service and faith will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
