Melroy-1

In Loving Memory

Melroy, Michael J.

Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the age of 82.

Beloved husband of Donna Melroy (nee Oettle); loving father of Mark (Monica), Gregory (Kevin
Gowdy) and Christopher, grandsons Alec and Dominic Melroy, sister Pat (John) Bender and
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Mother Gertrude Melroy, Father James
Melroy, Sister Sharon Neal and many grandparents, aunts, uncles and relatives.
Service: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, Monday, January 16, from 5-8
p.m. with funeral service on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment at J.B. National Cemetery.
As a young child, Mike and his Mother lived with his grandparents in Cherryville, MO while his
Father served in WW II and later spent many summers with them. He always had fond
memories of the country life and when taking short trips or long drives, he preferred taking the
side roads through the little towns vs the highways.
Mike served as a Proud Marine at 29 Palms in California for 3 years and believed in the motto
“Once a Marine always a Marine”.
He was a publishers representative for several companies including Simon & Schuster and
Harper Collins where he was a road warrior covering several midwestern states. He also
trained new reps and designed his own computer programs to enhance his sales.
When his oldest son Mark started his own company, Titan Contractors Services, he began
working with him part-time to manage the financial aspects of the business. As the company
grew and Mike retired from the publishing business he joined Mark full-time.
Mike was very involved in researching his ancestry and made great strides in developing his
family tree, photography, traveling, reading and gardening. He loved his family very much and
always wanted the best for them. He and his wife Donna would have been married 48 years in
March and they cared deeply for each other. His sons and grandsons were the pride and joy of
his life and he was so proud of the men they became.

Services: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, Monday, January 16, from 5-8 p.m. with funeral service on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment at J.B. National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Marine Toys for Tots or Shriners Hospital for Children.
