Mizell

In Loving Memory

Mizell, Shirley E.

Mizell, Shirley E.

Passed away peacefully on June 28, 2023.  Shirley was the loving wife of Gerald for 66 beautiful years.  Devoted mother of Diane (John) Kaufman, David (Lisa) Mizell, Donna (Tom)  Bischoff, and Daniel (Jenny) Mizell. Grandmother of 10 beautiful children, Meghan (Brian) Valdes, Michelle (Nick) Matlock, Stephen (Lindsay) Mizell, Joseph (Kathryn Beskrowni) Mizell, Laura Mizell, Amanda Hesser, Tyler Bischoff, Charles Bischoff, Katie Mizell, and Missy Mizell.  Great grandmother of Keegan Matlock, Kinley Matlock, Kenna Matlock, Olivia Mizell, Josie Mizell, and Otto Mizell.   Shirley was born in Metropolis, Illinois.  She was the daughter of Lydia Elberta (Yates) Smith and Robert Allen Smith.  She was the youngest of six children.  Shirley and her husband Jerry resided in their Oakville home for 40+ years until their recent move to Friendship Village of Sunset Hills.  Shirley was a homemaker and volunteered as a school nurse at Wohlwend Elementary.  She was active in Bible Study Fellowship as a leader over the children’s program.  An amazing seamstress, she lovingly sewed Easter outfits and Halloween costumes and could fix anything. She leaves a legacy of love and a great example of unconditional devotion to her family.   We will miss her quick wit, motherly advice and warm hugs.   She will be missed by all who knew her.
