Monnig

In Loving Memory

Monnig, Georgia M.

April 28, 1943 - July 19, 2026

Georgia Mae Monnig (nee Danuser) passed away peacefully in her sleep on the evening of Sunday, July 19, 2026 in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 83. Named after her father, Georgia was the third of four children born to George Frederick and Venita Marie Danuser (nee Eldringhoff) in Hermann, Missouri, on April 28, 1943. She grew up “in town” with her two older sisters Alberta and Marilyn and her baby brother “Freddie,” all of whom preceded her in death.

The family did not have a lot growing up, but Georgia took pride in what came her way and could do wonders with a shoe-string budget. She graduated from St. George High School in 1961, excelling in basketball, volleyball and cheerleading. She was smarter than she ever gave herself credit for, her work ethic led to her to begin an apprenticeship as a beautician under Vern and Ada Berhmann in Hermann. Upon graduation she worked as a hair stylist in St. Louis and began a family.

Georgia leaves behind her three daughters by their father, Gilbert Monnig (deceased); Stacey (Joseph) Hegger of Oakville, Missouri, their three sons, Taylor (Amanda), Michael (Jeanna), and Jack; Stephanie (Jeffrey) Hoelscher of Sunset Hills, Missouri, and their four children, Sarah, Emma, William and Samantha and Shanna (Arindam) Kar of St. Louis, Missouri, and their five children, Indira, Indranil, Indrayani, Indralena, and Ingita. Her wish was to be cremated and be laid to rest in St. George Cemetery, overlooking her childhood home of Hermann, near her parents, and her first-born daughter, Carla Jean, who became an angel before she could be held by her mom.

Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Oakville on Monday, August 3, at 10:00am. Inurnment St. George Cemetery, Hermann, MO immediately following.
