Jane Marie Moody was born in Springfield, MO to Irene and Garner Moody November 18, 1957, and died September 30, 2026 in St. Louis. She leaves her brother, John Moody of Mansfield and her sister, Martha Schuler of Webster Groves, MO. Her brother Tom predeceased her in 1965.
After graduating from Mansfield High School in 1976 she obtained an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Economics from St Louis University and a Masters degree in economics from Virginia Commonwealth University.
For the majority of her working life she was an economist for the State of Virginia Department of Taxation in Richmond, VA, during which she lived in or around the City of Richmond.
She enjoyed riding and grooming her horses, painting, jigsaw puzzles, and reading.
She was a loyal friend, maintaining her friendships for her lifetime. Jane was an affectionate and caring daughter, sister, and aunt, known for her intelligence, wit, and fun loving nature. Those of us who loved her, will miss her very much.
Anyone wishing to leave a remembrance in her name can make a donation to the Mansfield Historical Society, 101 W. North Street, Mansfield, MO 65704.
I am so sorry for your family’s loss. Jane was a wonderful person, generous and kind. I will miss her.
We are so sad to hear of her passing. Jane was a true professional and asset to the Commonwealth of Virginia for decades as a Senior Economist entrusted to forecast, explain and document a variety of core revenues that supported state government operations. She also had to translate into laymen’s terms proposed legislation that either raised or lowered taxes.
A core team member for over 25 years that served many Governors from both political parties.

I have been thinking of what to write about what a wonderful person Jane was. I will never forget the kindness, generosity and jokes she shared with my family for the past 25 years! She shared her love of books, cooking and nature with us and was so good to the kids and I. We will miss her dearly.
